I'm doing a power point for english class and I need to know your alls thoughts about this......

We have done this before. It's a very hot topic on the forum.
it seems 1/2 are dead set against it, and the other half ok with it.

Unfortunately we've never really had good arguments either for or against, just a lot of heated emotions doing the talking. And in some cases we have more than that - some people show a lot of hate when they argue the subject.

I personally am ok/neutral about it.

We may look back on this years from now and see the way we're banning gay marriages is a lot like the way interracial marriages used to be banned.
People then called interracial marriages 'unnatural' and a lot of people now call gay marriages 'unnatural.'

Some folks will attempt Bible quotes on the matter. The Bible does say to not 'lie with' another of the same sex, but it doesn't say two of the same sex can't be married.

tell why you're against it though...i'd never be gay myself, but who am i to say who someone can and can't marry?

people use the Bible very often in this discussion...what many people overlook is that not all people are Christians, how are you going to explain to an athiest person that they can't be gay, or have an abortion because "the Bible" says so...how would we feel if we weren't the dominant religion in this country?? if Hinduism was the dominant religion, would you like it if the President and Congress tried to pass laws that would make it illegal to eat cows??? it's insane...and it's purely based on people's religion which should be out of politics in the first place...it is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ok to be against being gay yourself, that is what you believe because of what you have been taught...but to look down on someone who is gay or to tell them what they can and cannot do is unjust and goes against every bit as much of the Bible that you are preaching in the first place

Look at a dollar bill, or coin that is minted in the US. I believe it says in God we trust. Not in Budda, or Alla, or nothing. That is why the Bible should, and can be used in my opinion.

I am not trying to say that in a bad way gcdevil22. I know that we all have Freedom of Religion, but we must also keep in mind that this country is founded by Christian values.

I am against what they are doing. It's against what the bible says. Because well you see, back in Genesis during all the creation, God created Adam (you know the Adam thing) butdo you know why God created Eve? God wanted a helper fit for Adam. That was Eve. He took out the ribs of Adam and created Eve. If he meant that for another man, then he would have created Steve.

Homosexuallity is sin, yes. That don't mean go around and whoop them. Jesus preached love and not judgement. Tell them the gospel. Quite a few know who Jesus was. Quite a few probably haven't even heard of him. If they refuse to put their faith in Jesus, refuse to start a relationship with him, and refuse to give up their sin (which you will have to give some things up when that happens) pray for them.

you're preachin to the choir that homosexuality is wrong...but how can you tell an athiest, Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic (insert religion here) that they can't do something because of Christian principles??

what was the main thing that Jesus preached?? it was forgiveness and acceptance...He told everyone what the laws were and what His Father says, do you people really think that God is sitting in Heaven and turning his back on people that are homosexual??? because that is exactly what we are doing but actually worse because we are condemning them, reality is we all commit sin...and all sins are equal in the eyes of God...so as you curse, drink, smoke, party (insert sin here) does God turn his back on you?? heck no, but you have no one condemning you for it because in society today drinking and smoking are more common and accepted...if we are gonna make laws that ban things, there are FAR worse things than homosexuality...how are cigarettes still legal?? is there any good that can come out of one?

how many of the same people who sit here and condemn homosexuality have ever gone out and got "hammered" or "high" and all that?? i already know of a couple...don't throw stones in glass houses guys, worry about yourself and YOUR relationship with God and let others make their decisions

That's what I am trying to say. I've gone out and sinned before. We all have. I did say I was against the practice of doing that not against the people who practice it. You udnerstand what I am saying?
